CRIME WATCH

November 29, 2006|By Richard Irwin

No arrest had been made and no motive revealed in the fatal shooting early yesterday of a man on the front steps of his Northwest Baltimore home, said a Police Department spokesman.

About 1:25 a.m., a Northwestern District policeman was on patrol when he heard gunshots from the 4300 block of Fairfax Road and observed an unidentified man running away. When the officer failed to catch the man during a foot pursuit, he returned to the block and found the victim, Andre Alexander, 21, lying on the front steps of his home bleeding from a bullet wound, said Agent Donny Moses, the spokesman.

Moses said Alexander was pronounced dead at the scene about 15 minutes later by city Fire Department medics.

Metro Crime Stoppers, 410-276-8888, is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the killing.
