Chamber to hold `Membership 101'

The Baltimore/Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce will hold a "Membership 101" program for those who want to maximize their membership.

The program will be held from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the chamber office, 312 Marshall Ave., Suite 104, Laurel.

Free to members and nonmembers.

Power breakfast planned Wednesday

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will hold a power breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at BWI Marriott, 1743 W. Nursery Road.

The cost is $17 in advance or $22 at the door for members, and $35 for nonmembers.

College to hold business expo

Anne Arundel Community College's Entrepreneurial Studies Institute (ESI) will sponsor the Best of Business Expo.

The two-day expo will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday on the second floor of the Careers Center of the AACC's Arnold campus, 101 College Parkway.

The expo will showcase businesses and ventures of college alumni, employees and students.

Severna Park chamber to meet

The Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce will hold a general membership luncheon at noon, with an 11 a.m. social hour, Wednesday at Chartwell Country Club, 1 Chartwell Drive, Severna Park.

The guest speaker will be Tim Campbell, executive director of the Maryland Aviation Administration.

The cost is $30 for members and guests, and $35 for nonmembers.

BankAnnapolis to light its sign

BankAnnapolis will light up the lion sign atop its headquarters at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at 1000 Bestgate Road.

The "Lighting of the Lion" will have a seasonal theme; it will stay lit until Jan. 1.

Chamber directory deadline is Friday

The deadline to list your business in the 2007-2008 Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce Membership Directory and Resource Guide is Friday.

All businesses that are members of the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will receive a complimentary listing.

Station to broadcast from The Centre

MIX 106.5 will broadcast live from The Centre at Glen Burnie at noon Saturday.

Guests can enter to win four tickets to the Mistletoe Meltdown concert featuring Nick Lachey on Dec. 16 at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore.

The live broadcast will take place on the Centre Court Carpet Stage.

Watermark given heritage tour award

Watermark, a tour, charter and cruise company in Annapolis, received the Best New Heritage Initiative designation from the Four Rivers Heritage Association.

Watermark received the honor for its new African-American Heritage tour.

This is the second consecutive year that Watermark has received the Best New Heritage Initiative award.

Annapolis praised for marketing plan

Annapolis announced that the city's Office of Economic Development received an award from the Maryland Downtown Development Association for outstanding achievement in developing a marketing package that promotes the city's efforts to market and promote new business activity.

Marketing strategies and goals for six commercial districts in the city were developed and published in a brochure.

The mayor, city council, Office of Economic Development, business and community associations, and Hermann Advertising participated in the project.
