With just more than two minutes remaining in the Class 2A East regional final last night, the visiting Southern football team executed a 59-yard hook-and-lateral play to Eric Foote for the game-winning touchdown on fourth-and-long to beat previously undefeated Wicomico, 20-19.

Quarterback Zack Hiller threw a 5-yard pass to Kevin Walker in the flat. Walker lateraled the ball to Foote, who ran the remaining 54 yards up the sideline to the end zone.

On the ensuing kickoff, the Indians' returner did not protect the ball, and the Bulldogs (8-4) were able to knock it loose. Mike Turner recovered the fumble with 1:50 remaining.

The win over Wicomico (11-1) gives Southern its deepest playoff run since the Bulldogs reached the Class 2A state championship in 1993.
