Deck the Halls

Rating -- PG

What it's about -- Uptight, organized and Christmas-obsessed optometrist deals with his tacky, over-decorating new neighbor.

The Kid Attractor Factor -- Slapstick, a holiday setting, with snow and a sleigh and pranks aplenty.

Good lessons/bad lessons -- Don't over-organize Christmas. And call the cops on neighbors with decorations so bright they can be seen "from outer space."

Violence -- Pratfalls, fireworks explosions.

Language -- Mild profanity.

Sex -- The director has a thing for cleavage.

Drugs -- Not even eggnog.

Parents advisory -- Harmless family comedy, with an emphasis on the "harmless" and not the "comedy."

The Fountain

Rating -- PG-13

What it's about -- A surgeon races to find a cure for his sickly wife, a woman whose love transcends time.

The Kid Attractor Factor -- Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz play the couple, and there's action involving conquistadors.

Good lessons/bad lessons -- Death is "the road to awe" and not to be feared.

Violence -- Yes, stabbings and surgery.

Language -- Mild profanity.

Sex -- Nothing graphic, even though Weisz is famed for her moments in the tub.

Drugs -- There's an air of drug-trip to much of the third act.

Parents advisory -- Too violent and cerebral and "trippy" for pre-teens.
