Mayor Tom Ferguson serves as grand marshal, with 9-year-old Sky Teel serving as junior grand marshal. At the parade's end, there will be a tree-lighting ceremony with the mayor, community caroling, music by the Westminster Municipal Band, meetings with Santa and hot chocolate. The parade is sponsored by the Greater Westminster Development Corporation.

WACKY WREATHS

Whimsical, funky and bizarre, the wreaths at the Carroll County Arts Council's Festival of Wreaths are far from ordinary. OK, some are a bit traditional. But you'll find a nice collection of offbeat wreaths to bid on at the annual event, which features more than 230 decorated theme wreaths. In past years, wreaths have been adorned with peacock feathers, $50 bills, LiveStrong bracelets and even auto parts. Bidders will find comparably wacky wreaths this year at the five-day silent auction.

.......................

The Festival of Wreaths runs 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday through Dec. 2 and 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Carroll Arts Center, 91 W. Main St., Westminster. Winning bidders need not be present at the auction's close. All proceeds raised will benefit the arts council. Call 410-848-7272 or visit www.carr.org / arts.
