The skinny on local clubs

Pazo

With a name that means "grand house" in Catalan, the velvet-roped Mediterranean fusion restaurant and lounge is the place to see and be seen in Fells Point.

Where -- 1425 Aliceanna St.

Call -- 410-534-7296

Web site -- pazorestaurant.com

Notable -- The owners of the Charleston, Bin 604 and Petit Louis have cleverly transformed an abandoned machine shop into a chic nightspot complete with wrought-iron light fixtures and oversized urns typically found in a Spanish castle. The tapas, served until 1 a.m., are as delicious as the decor, and the house wines - priced at $17 a bottle - are a steal.

Vibe -- Elegant and upscale. The place shifts from a relaxed lounge and restaurant in the early evening to a vibrant hotspot after 10, when the music director starts spinning and the bar fills.

Crowd -- A mix of twentysomethings and professionals out to schmooze in style.

What to wear -- Chic and trendy, Pazo is the perfect place to showcase designer labels.
