Christmas in Leonardtown

The lowdown -- Tomorrow, Leonardtown hosts its Christmas on the Square. The free event offers sleigh and carriage rides, live music, a petting zoo and tree lighting. Santa is expected.

Four-day dog show

The lowdown -- Four dog clubs will bring their pets to the Howard County Fairgrounds this weekend for the four-day Turkey Cluster All Breed Dog Show. More than 1,600 dogs - about 140 breeds - will be on display each day. There will also be food and about 50 vendors offering dog-related merchandise.

If you go -- The show runs from 7 a.m. to about 4 p.m. tomorrow through Monday at the Howard County Fairgrounds, 2210 Fairgrounds Road in West Friendship. Admission is free, but parking is $3. For more information, call 410-254-8426 or go to www.nemkc.org.

Brighter Catonsville

The lowdown -- Catonsville gets a little brighter Saturday night when the switch is thrown at the Tree Lighting Ceremony. The Morning Star Baptist Church Choir will sing and a children's theater will perform a short skit. After the tree is lit at 6:50 p.m., Santa will arrive on a firetruck.
