Robert Randolph and the Family Band -- 9:30 Club / The House of God Pentecostal Church in Orange, N.J., has been incorporating steel guitars into its workshop services since the 1930s - but it's young Robert Randolph who's been making "Sacred Steel" guitar famous. Discovered at the Sacred Steel Convention in early 2000 and playing New York club dates less than a year later, Randolph and the Family Band's blend of jazz, funk, gospel and jam has been received with both critical and popular acclaim. The Pretenders -- Rams Head Live / Beginning with their 1979 single "Stop Your Sobbing," the Pretenders have left a long line of hit singles in their wake, including Chrissie Hynde classics "Brass In Pocket" and "I'll Stand By You." Changes in lineup aside, their melodic rock songs and energy-charged performances have led to nearly three decades of success. They're joined by the All Mighty Senators on Sunday at Rams Head Live, 20 Market Place. Hoobastank -- Sonar / Since Hoobastank got together in 1994, it's put out two records and a hit monster ballad, "The Reason," altogether resulting in three Grammy nominations and a very busy touring schedule.
