Got volts? There's one month left before winter officially begins, but just nine days before meteorological winter arrives. The PJM Interconnection, which manages power production and distribution for 13 states and Washington, D.C., says the grid is ready. PJM's expecting a 1.5 percent growth in electrical demand this winter - for a peak of 112,114 megawatts. One MW powers about 800 homes. The system's capacity will be 168,000 MW. On Aug. 2, the PJM set a record of 144,644 MW - a jump of 7.6 percent.
