The Weather Page

November 19, 2006|By FRANK ROYLANCE | FRANK ROYLANCE,Sun Reporter -- Weather Blogger

Alert reader Bill Appelbaum writes from Catonsville because he noticed Tuesday when the Weather Page Almanac switched its red-letter heat index reading to a wind chill reading. "Does this change occur on a fixed date, or because of weather conditions?" he asks. I wish it were that scientific. It changed because alert reader John Polyniak wrote from Lake Shore to tell us how dumb it was to run the heat index in November. We agreed, and changed it. But then, who needs wind chill data when it's 64 out?
