County redesigns its Web page

Carroll County Government has redesigned its Meetings & Agendas Web page to make it easier to find information.

The page features agendas of coming public meetings and videos of past meetings. To find the page, follow the Meetings & Agendas link under "County News" on the home page,

Agendas, schedules and a video library are on the page. If an event is being broadcast live, visitors can stream video from the Web page to watch the meeting.

Public meetings that have been recorded since July 18, can be found in the library, categorized by board or commission. Clicking on an agenda item will start the video at that point.

Included in the library is programming from CCG 24, the county government's cable television station.

Anyone with an e-mail address can click on "Subscribe to this page" to sign up to be notified when a new piece of information has been added to the Web pages.

Summit held for rural health

The Partnership for a Healthier Carroll County was awarded the Outstanding Rural Health Program Award at the Rural Awards Luncheon during the ninth annual Maryland Rural Summit.

The Outstanding Rural Health Program Award is given for promoting and providing effective community-oriented rural health care delivery and excelling in service to rural citizens.

After a community health assessment project in the mid-1990s, Carroll Hospital Center proposed creating a private, non-profit community-led organization to address areas that the community identified as priorities.

The Partnership was formed in 1999 to build both health and quality of life improvement in 11 core areas. Among its programs are: Seniors Keep in Touch; Carroll County Neighbors Helping Neighbors; an anti-violence awareness campaign; and Access Carroll, a primary health care practice.
