How quickly we forget. Who remembers the winter of 1995-1996? It was on this date in 1995 that the snow finally stopped falling on Garrett County. A Veterans Day cold front dropped daytime temperatures from the 60s to the 30s. A week of lake-effect snow followed, ending with 40 inches in Oakland. It heralded a winter that would bring the town 204 inches of snow. Baltimore recorded 62.5 inches for the season, a record. BWI saw more than 32 inches in January alone, and another 19 inches in February.
