Waters urges letting imaginations run wild

Review A

John Waters declares himself "gay-ly incorrect" in his one-man stage show turned one-man movie, This Filthy World, because he always considered one of the privileges of being gay that you didn't have to get married or join the military. What makes the movie such a dirty joy is that it's gaily incorrect, too.

He emerges from a fake confessional onto the stage of the Harry De Jur Playhouse in New York in a black jacket with white trim that makes him look like a negative of the Music Man.

This Filthy World (Red Envelope Entertainment) Starring John Waters (above). Directed by Jeff Garlin. Not rated. Time 86 minutes.
