The music of Spain

The lowdown -- You can count on the Post-Classical Ensemble to provide fresh perspectives, and that's what music director Angel Gil-Ordonez and artistic director Joseph Horowitz have planned for Sunday in College Park. "Beyond Flamenco: Finding Spain in Music" is a three-concert presentation that includes a rare opportunity to hear the complete keyboard work Iberia by Isaac Albeniz (with pianist Pedro Carbone); a film/music/poetry/art exploration of the "Europeanization of Spain"; and a program rich in the brilliantly colored music of Manuel de Falla.

If you go -- The performances are at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, Stadium Drive and University Boulevard, College Park. Tickets are $7 to $30. Call 301-405-2787 or go to claricesmithcenter.umd.edu.

Budd, who has been dubbed the series' "founder and emeritus everything," will play works by Bach, Handel, Albinoni and Messiaen on her recital.

If you go -- The recital is at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Second Presbyterian Church, 4200 St. Paul St. Free. Call 410-744-4034 or go to communityconcertsatsecond. org.
