Singer-songwriter Jewel returns with a more sophisticated take on self-reflection

November 14, 2006|By Rashod D. Ollison | Rashod D. Ollison,Sun Pop Music Critic

These days, you'll hear and see a more polished Jewel.

On her latest album, Goodbye Alice in Wonderland, the folk-pop singer-songwriter shows that she has come full circle in her career -- from a gawky, Alaska-raised crooner of wide-eyed hits, to a glammed-up dance-pop diva and then back to a self-reflecting lyricist, now with a more realized and sophisticated approach.

If you go Jewel performs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Hippodrome, 12 N. Eutaw St. Tickets are $50 and are available through Ticketmaster, 410-547-SEAT or ticketmaster.com.
