The president made this conciliatory remark after a lunch meeting Thursday with two Democratic House leaders, Nancy Pelosi of California and Steny H. Hoyer of Maryland. The Democrats gained majorities in the House and the Senate in last week's mid-term elections - a victory widely interpreted as a broad rebuke of Bush's leadership.

?We won?t agree on every issue, but we do agree that we love America equally, that we?re concerned about the future of this country, and that we will do our very best to solve big problems.?
