BSO relishes its first journey far over the `Rainbow'

Music Review

When the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra introduced its aural-visual Explorer Series last season, the concept sounded promising. But audiences ended up sitting through wordy lectures and projections only marginally more advanced in technology or more interesting in content than a showing of Uncle Elmo's summer vacation slides.

This season's return of the Explorer Series is on an altogether higher plane, judging by the first program, presented Thursday night at the Music Center at Strathmore and now at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall for the rest of the weekend.

If you go The BSO performs at 8 tonight and 3 p.m. tomorrow at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, 1212 Cathedral St. Tickets are $25 to $78. Call 410-783-8000 or go to baltimoresymphony.org.
