Ceremony marks care unit opening

Anne Arundel Medical Center will celebrate the opening of its $4 million neonatal intensive care unit from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today on the second floor of the Clatanoff Pavilion.

Free parking is available in the Acute Care Pavilion garage.

BWI neighbors to meet tomorrow

The Maryland Aviation Administration will host a BWI Neighbors Committee meeting at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the assembly room of the its offices at 991 Corporate Blvd., Linthicum.

The meeting will include a discussion of updates to the Airport Noise Zone and Noise Compatibility Program.

The BWI Neighbors Committee serves as a liaison between Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and the surrounding neighborhoods to ensure continuing and timely discussion of mutual airport and community interest.

TIPS seminar for sales professionals

The Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce will hold TIPS: Techniques and Ideas for Professional Salespeople, a monthly program that teaches techniques to help increase sales and how to avoid costly mistakes.

The program will be from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the BWCC office, 312 Marshall Ave., Suite 104, Laurel.

The event is free for members, $20 for nonmembers.

Job fair for veterans set for Wednesday

The Maryland Department of Labor Licensing and Regulation and the American Legion will sponsor a veterans job fair at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Legion Post 60, 2 Main St., Laurel.

The fair will include employers offering more than 3,000 job openings. Job seekers should bring resumes and dress appropriately.

Business group schedules mixer

The BWI Business Partnership, with Anne Arundel County chambers of commerce and the Anne Arundel County Tech Council, will hold a "Retro Techno" mixer at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Key West Restaurant, Ramada Inn BWI, 7253 Parkway Drive, Hanover.

Door prizes and literature tables will be available.

The event costs $20 for members in advance, and $30 for nonmembers and for members at the door.

BWI partnership to meet Thursday

The BWI Business Partnership will hold a Signature Breakfast at 7:45 a.m. Thursday at the Four Points by Sheraton at BWI, 7032 Elm Road.

Keynote speaker Lt. Gen. Charles Groom Jr., director of the Defense Information Systems Agency and commander of the Joint Task Force Global Network Operations, will discuss the Base Realignment and Closure process.

The breakfast meeting is free for members based on dues level, $20 otherwise; $50 for nonmembers. Reservations are required by tomorrow.

Diabetes center names director

Dr. Kashif Munir was named medical director of the Joslin Diabetes Center affiliate at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

He has worked at the center since 2003.

Munir received his medical degree from the Temple University School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Maryland and at Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
