Moeller, Laraway lift Navy over Lehigh, 2-0

Shelly Moeller broke a scoreless tie in the 62nd minute to lead second-seeded Navy to a 2-0 victory over third-seeded Lehigh yesterday in the semifinal round of the Patriot League women's soccer tournament in Lewisburg, Pa.

"We didn't have a lot of quality scoring chances, but the ones that were there, we took advantage of," said Navy coach Carin Gabarra, who was named the Patriot League Coach of the Year on Thursday.

At the 61:31 mark, Cassie Barbaresi sent the ball to the middle of the box, where Moeller made contact and headed in her seventh goal of the season and Navy (20-1) took a 1-0 lead.

Ten minutes later, Kristen Laraway misdirected her defender, crossed over and shot over the right shoulder of Lehigh keeper Julie Kafka for the 2-0 final.

Lizzie Barnes, the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year, made six stops against the Mountain Hawks (8-9-1) to secure her 11th shutout of the year.

The Mids will face the winner of the Bucknell-Colgate in tomorrow's championship at 1 p.m.

Siena 1, Loyola 0 -- Kristen Turner scored the game-winner at the 48:07 mark of the second half to lift the host Saints (9-7-2) over the Greyhounds (10-7-2) in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference semifinal in Fairfield, Conn.

Men

Towson 1, George Mason 1 -- Jonathan Borrajo converted a goal in the sixth round of the penalty kicks for a 5-4 final as the Colonials (12-5-2) beat the Tigers (14-1-3) in a double-overtime Colonial Athletic Association semifinal in Virginia Beach, Va.
