Maurice Richard from Street, is just getting around to asking why, during those "monsoon" rains in Maryland at the end of June, his barometer hardly changed at all. "Usually I can tell the low-pressure system has passed by watching the ... pressure start to rise." True. For weeks, the barometer hardly budged. Lows are weak in summer anyway. Then weather systems stalled. An offshore high pumped very wet, tropical air northward, straight into a stationary cold front. The collision led to six inches of rain here in seven days.
