An Ellicott City women and two of her children were killed in a traffic accident Tuesday evening in Washington County, state police said.

Amira Abbas, 41, of the 11000 block of Dorsch Farm Road was traveling west on Interstate 70 near Hancock about 5 p.m. when she lost control of her 2004 Toyota Camry and crossed the median into an eastbound lane, where she collided head-on with a tractor-trailer, state police said.

Police said Abbas and her two children, ages 10 and 4, died of their injuries.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Richard Jacelyn McNeil, 64, and his passenger, Margaret Spears Williams, 53, both of Dunn, N.C., were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Yesterday, family and friends who had gathered at the Abbas residence in Ellicott City declined to comment and asked that their privacy be respected.
