Audience directs

The lowdown -- At Baltimore Improv Group (BIG) performances, there are no directors hissing forgotten lines or demanding costume changes. BIG creates a setting, dialogue and characterization based solely on audience input. The group will create a series of skits at the Hamilton Arts Collective on Saturday.

The lowdown -- Electro-jam rockers the Disco Biscuits perform at Sonar on Saturday night. The venue is selling fewer tickets than usual to allow for more dancing room.

I Hate the '80s

The lowdown -- Bathe in distorted guitar shredding and monster ballads Saturday night with I Hate the '80s Night: The Metal Years. Sponsored by Atomic Books and held at the Ottobar, the event includes a screening of the cult film Heavy Metal Parking Lot and a performance of '80s cover songs by the band Vollmer.
