The skinny on local clubs

Porters Pub

Porters is far enough from the main Cross Street bar district that it doesn't get a whole lot of foot traffic, but this Federal Hill bar is packed pretty much all weekend long.

Where -- 1032 Riverside Ave.

Call -- 410-539-1999

Web site -- portersfederalhill .com

Notable -- The bar gets its name from Capt. David Porter, who designed a system of flags used to tell Baltimoreans when certain ships had arrived.

Vibe -- Porters is a fallback bar, where the crowd and the scene stay constant, for the most part.

Crowd -- Pretty much all yuppies in their 20s and 30s who live nearby. Porters has a loyal audience of nearby Federal Hill residents.

What to wear -- Designer jeans and nice shirts are par for the course on weekends. It's more casual on weeknights.
