Agriculture forum for women Nov. 16

The Howard County Economic Development Authority, Maryland Cooperative Extension, Howard County office and other sponsors will present the Central Maryland Women in Agriculture forum, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Howard County Fairgrounds in West Friendship.

The forum is designed to offer educational and networking opportunities to women in agriculture, providing leadership experiences and support.

Registration and a welcome will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. Workshops are planned from 9:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., with a break for lunch. A question period will conclude the forum.

The cost is $20 a person.

Bowles Fluidics wins wellness award

The Howard County Chamber of Commerce and the Horizon Foundation have announced the recipient of the inaugural Howard County Workplace Wellness Award: Bowles Fluidics Corp. of Columbia.

The company, a pioneer in fluid technology, has developed a creative participatory wellness program for its employees that includes fitness activities, health fairs, family support, safety committees and environmental health and stress management courses.

Bowles Fluidics will be honored at a Workplace Wellness Luncheon at 11 a.m. Nov. 8 at the Sheraton Columbia Hotel.

The Horizon Foundation and the chamber have formed a partnership to recognize county businesses that work to reduce health care costs by improving the health and wellness of their employees.
