STAR LIGHT, STAR BRIGHT

Take a gander skyward tomorrow and learn about the fall constellations, the Andromeda spiral galaxy, nebulae, star clusters and the crescent moon's craters at the Free Family Skywatch at Belmont. The public viewing session provides sky-watch assistance from Howard Community College astronomy faculty and amateur astronomers. Some 20 telescopes will be set up for viewing on the picnic grounds of the Belmont Conference Center in Elkridge. The public is invited to bring binoculars and small telescopes, as well. There will be an illustrated presentation on the sky sights prior to the viewing. The event is presented by the college's science department and student life office, as well as the Howard Astronomical League.

IRELAND'S MARY ROBINSON

She's been a barrister, a senator and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. But perhaps her most remarkable title has been that of first woman president of Ireland. Mary Robinson, who served as the seventh president of Ireland from 1990 to 1997, will lecture on "Human Rights and Ethical Globalization" Wednesday at the University of Maryland University College auditorium. Robinson is the founder of Realizing Rights: The Ethical Globalization Initiative, which promotes humane migration policies, improved response to the HIV / AIDS crisis in Africa and women's leadership.

Mary Robinson will lecture at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the auditorium at the University of Maryland University College Inn and Conference Center, 3501 University Blvd. E., Adelphi. The juried show and sale, presented by the congregation's sisterhood, also features an all-day cafe.

'OOO LA LA'

In celebration of the Walters Art Museum's exhibit of Gustave Courbet's 19th-century French landscape paintings, visitors can enjoy a French-themed day all afternoon Saturday. The "OOO LA LA! French Family Festival" will feature French music, dancing, crafts and food. Visitors can stroll through the Sculpture Court, which will be transformed into the streets of Paris with displays of landmarks, or visit the pastry shop to make a crepe, learn French words, make a replica of the Eiffel Tower, hear French-inspired music by the group Boister and watch the dance ensemble Choregraphie Antique perform.
