Meet The Band

October 26, 2006|By SAM SESSA

Hometown -- Baltimore

Current members --Adam Scott-Wakefield, keyboards and vocals; Marshall Chapman, guitar; Paul Lewis, bass; Alex Rankin, guitar; Christian Stengle, drums

Founded in --2001

Style --Southern rock, blues and soul

Influenced by --Allman Brothers, Earth Wind and Fire, Marvin Gaye, the Band

Notable --Chapman said Baltimore is a good home base for blues inspiration. Johnny Neel, who has played keyboards with the Allman Brothers, produced and played on Return, the band's debut album, which comes out in December.

Quotable --"I think from [a] blues perspective, anyway, Baltimore is a great city," Chapman said. "It's historically been a blue-collar city, and the people are very down-to-earth and like to have a good time, and that's pretty much what we're all about."

Hear Old Man Brown Wednesday at the Waterfront Hotel, 1710 Thames St. Free. The music starts at 9:30 p.m. Call 410-537-5055 or go to waterfronthotel.us. The band: oldmanbrown.com or myspace.com/oldmanbrown.
