Carlos O'Charlie's, a huge new bar and restaurant, opened in Highlandtown this summer. It consists of a long, wide main floor with a bar along one side and an equal-sized downstairs lounge.

Notable -- Upstairs is divided into a couple of sections, one of which has couches facing a large stone fountain. Tall black metal chairs sit at the main bar. There are pool tables downstairs, a tiki bar and plenty of TVs.
Vibe -- Clean. We've been there twice and didn't see a speck of dirt. One time, it even smelled like Pine-Sol.
Crowd -- Mostly Highlandtown denizens in their 20s, 30s and 40s.
What to wear -- You can sport just about anything you like at Carlos' - from jeans to black dress pants - and not feel out of place.
