Spank Rock

The lowdown -- The now at least semi-famous electro-hip-hop group Spank Rock returns to its hometown Saturday for a monster throw-down at the Ottobar. The group is in the middle of a months-long international tour, during which it has supported Beck and Gnarls Barkley, among others. In short, a Spank Rock show is one huge party. You really won't want to miss it.

Sonar party

The lowdown -- Not only will Tuesday be a Halloween edition of Taxlo, but it will also be Sonar's fourth anniversary party. That means an extended DJ list, including Lonnie Fisher, Dave Nada, Cullen Stalin, Simon D. Phoenix, Chris O and Mod Dave. Costumes are highly encouraged.

Freak Show

The lowdown -- Mosaic, the outdoor tent lounge in Power Plant Live, is finishing off its season with the Freak Show Masquerade Ball II. Saturday, DJs LoveGrove and Adam Auburn and opener J-Boogie will provide background music to the sword swallowing, fire breathing, tarot card and palm readings and other burlesque action. This is the venue's last event outdoors before it moves into 4 Market Place around New Years Eve.
