Rotaries sponsor beach bash

The West Anne Arundel County Rotary Club and the Glen Burnie Rotary Club will co-sponsor a Hurricane Beach Bash from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at Cancun Cantina, 7501 Old Telegraph Road, Hanover.

It will benefit the 100 Club of Anne Arundel County, which provides supplemental benefits to the families of law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel and firefighters who are killed in the line of duty in Anne Arundel County.

Awards dinner celebrates residents

The West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will hold the 2006 Celebrate Community Awards Dinner to recognize the accomplishments of outstanding citizens in West County at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Michael's 8th Avenue, 7220 Greyburn Drive, Glen Burnie.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Martha Smith, president of Anne Arundel Community College.

Advance tickets cost $35 for adults, $25 for children younger than 12, $300 for a table of 10.

Fair for small, minority businesses

The Maryland Aviation Administration Office of Fair Practices, with support from the BWI Business Partnership, BWI Development Council and the BWI Small and Minority Business Advisory Council, will present the Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport Annual Business Networking Fair from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport, 1739 W. Nursery Road, Linthicum.

The fair will provide small and minority businesses with procurement information to help increase their participation in the business opportunities at the airport.

Commerce group holding a mixer

The Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will hold an After Hours Mixer from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday to celebrate the end of membership month.

The mixer will be held on a Watermark Cruises yacht, at City Dock in Annapolis.

Members should take business cards to exchange.

Tickets cost $10 in advance, $15 at the door and $25 for nonmembers.

Procurement fair in Greenbelt

The Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce and the BWCC Government Contracting Council will host the annual Baltimore/Washington Area Government Procurement Fair at 8 a.m. Friday at Greenbelt Marriott, 6400 Ivy Lane.

There will be one-on-one counseling sessions and presentations. Information will be available on how to do business with the government.

Pageant director for 2007 chosen

Siouxzan Moore, president of Moore Pageant Productions, Inc., has been selected the new director of the Mrs. Maryland United States 2007 Pageant.

She is a former pageant titleholder and has directed pageants in the United States, Globe and Mrs. America systems.

The pageant will be held at the Best Western Hotel and Conference Center in Anne Arundel County on May 6, 2007.
