Severna Park, Broadneck play to tie in field hockey

Top-ranked Severna Park survived a scare from No. 6 Broadneck as Ashley Pensyl tied the game at 1-1 with 28 seconds left in overtime in Anne Arundel County field hockey. The game was called after the end of the first overtime due to darkness.

The Bruins (9-1-1) took the lead when freshman Courtney Tomchik scored with 43 seconds left on a rebound in front of the Severna Park net.

The Falcons (11-0-1) scored on the ensuing possession to thwart the upset bid. Alyssa Cranska made 15 saves for the Bruins, and Corinne Manuel stopped seven shots for Severna Park.

Boys soccer

Northeast 2, Glen Burnie 0 -- Ryan Young had a goal and an assist and Kenny Kerr made seven saves to lead the host Eagles (4-6) over the Gophers.

Girls soccer

No. 10 Century 1, North Carroll 0 -- Sophomore Katie Schwarzman scored the game-winner 1:30 into the second overtime period as the visiting Knights (8-2) topped the Panthers (7-4-1).

Catonsville 4, Franklin 0 -- The Comets (12-1) rolled past the visiting Indians (3-7) behind two goals from senior Carly Boch.

Dulaney 1, Hereford 0 -- Senior Holly Burman converted a penalty kick in the first half for the Lions (5-5-2), who held off the Bulls in the second half to preserve the victory.
