On Tuesday October 10, 2006, ANNE MARY DAURIA, Ed.D., passed away at the University of Maryland Medical Center Shock Trauma Unit. Anne earned her doctorate in 1979 at the University of Virginia, following the awarding of a Master of Science Degree from the University of Colorado in 1963, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Western Reserve University (Cleveland, Ohio) in 1959. She served on the nursing faculties of the State University of New York at Buffalo, the University of Chandigar, Punjab, India, under the auspices of the World Health Organization, Towson University and as Dean of the School of Nursing at Southwestern Louisiana State University, Lafayette, Louisiana. She was a member of the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses, during the administration of Governor Harry Hughes. Anne was active in the Towson Chapter of the America Association of University Women, the Gunpowder Falls Ladies Golf League, a Spanish club, the WYPR Volunteers and was a member of Our Lady, Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Anna is survived by her brother Frank Dauria of Salem, Ohio, her niece, Johanna Humanek Mader of Clarksville, Indiana, her nephew, Thomas J. Humanek of Cape Coral, Florida and numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. Anne chose to donate her body to the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene State Anatomy Board for the purposes of medical research, thus eliminating any of the typical funeral rites which she deplored. To celebrate Anne's life, her family invites neighbors, friends and colleagues to a "Going Away" party on Monday evening, October 16, from 7 to 9 P.M. at her home at 25 Guinevere Ct., in the Amberly Condo Community off King Avenue.
