Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes from police reports in Baltimore and Baltimore County.



Victim identified -- The man fatally shot Wednesday outside an apartment building in Brooklyn was identified by police yesterday as Herbert Betz, 30, of the 8400 block of Church Road in Pasadena. No arrest had been made, and police did not know of a motive. Betz was found lying in the woods near the 1000 block of Bristol Place about 12:30 p.m. bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds. He died a short time later at Maryland Shock Trauma Center.


Victim identified -- Sean Dill, 32, of the 2800 block of Ashland Ave. has been identified as one of two men shot about 10 p.m. Wednesday in the 1200 block of N. Luzerne Ave. Dill was shot in the upper body and died an hour later at Johns Hopkins Hospital. The other victim survived; his name was withheld because he is a witness.


Shooting -- A 26-year-old Northwood man stepped from his car in the 1500 block of Pennsylvania Ave. about 10 p.m. Sunday and was walking across the street when someone fired a shot that struck him in the upper right leg. He was treated at Shock Trauma.


Armed carjacking -- Police were seeking two men, one with a handgun, who forced a Prince George's County man out of his 1995 Lincoln Continental in the 2500 block of Edgecombe Circle North about 9:30 p.m. Sunday and robbed him of $85 and the car. It had Chesapeake Bay tags 50782BY.


Carjacking -- A 36-year-old motorist from Calvert County was driving a white 1995 Toyota in the 2200 block of N. Fulton Ave. about 3 a.m. Friday when he stopped two men and asked for directions. The men agreed, if the motorist would give them a ride to the 2800 block of Windsor Ave. There, one displayed what appeared to be a handgun and robbed the driver of $2,000, a watch and a gold ring before both men forced him from the vehicle. One man told the victim, "This is how we do it in Baltimore." The vehicle had tags M950298.

Baltimore County


Cuttings -- A man, 21, and a boy, 17, were fighting at Kingston and Southorn roads about 4 p.m. Sunday when they cut each other with a knife. The teenager treated at Shock Trauma. The adult was treated at Franklin Square Hospital Center.


Robberies -- Four teenage boys were in a car parked outside a convenience store in the 8900 block of Belair Road about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when a man who implied having a handgun robbed them of money and a wallet. One of the victims was assaulted.
