Mary Virginia Edelman, 82, office clerk

Mary Virginia Edelman, a retired office clerk and active church member, died Wednesday of cardiac arrest at the Presbyterian Home of Maryland in Towson. The longtime Towson resident was 82.

Born Mary Virginia Lowry in Baltimore, she was a 1942 graduate of Eastern High School. She went to work during World War II at Glenn L. Martin Co. and stayed on for many years. She spent the second half of her career doing clerical work for the Paul Harrod Publishing Co.

Mrs. Edelman was a life member of Faith Presbyterian Church, where she served on the board of deacons, was a member of the Jackson Circle Bible study group and the Best Years Fellowship, a leisure club. She also belonged to a church bowling league and did volunteer work with the church.

Mrs. Edelman, who was known to most people as "Ginny," married John A. Edelman in 1945. He died in 1986.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Faith Presbyterian Church, 5400 Loch Raven Blvd.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda L. Seward of Timonium and Gail V. Craig of Baltimore; a sister, Betty Lou Tampieri of Timonium; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
