Streets to close tomorrow for Columbus Day parade

Numerous streets in downtown Baltimore and Mount Vernon will be closed tomorrow for the city's annual Columbus Day parade, which is to begin at 2 p.m. at N. Charles and Centre streets. The parade will proceed south on Charles, east on Pratt Street, south on President Street and east on Fleet Street. It will disband along Central Avenue.

According to the city's Department of Transportation:

Closed from noon to 4 p.m.: Charles from Madison Avenue to Franklin Street; Mount Vernon Place from Cathedral to St. Paul streets; Centre from Cathedral to St. Paul; Central Avenue from Fleet to Bank streets; Charles from Mt. Vernon Place to Conway Street; Pratt from Charles to President; President from Pratt to Fleet; and Fleet from President to Central.

Streets closed from 1:45 p.m. to 6 p.m.: Charles from Franklin to Conway streets; Pratt from Howard to President streets: President from Pratt to Fleet; and South Street at Lombard Street (open to local traffic only). Parking restrictions on sides of the street will be in place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. along Mount Vernon Place from Cathedral to St. Paul, and Centre Street from Cathedral to St. Paul.

Traffic on Charles Street will be detoured to Conway and Light, and then to Calvert Street, left on Madison Street to get back to Charles. Madison Street traffic will be detoured to St. Paul Street, then to Franklin Street, Park Avenue and back to Madison. Pratt Street traffic will be detoured to Howard Street, then to Baltimore, Gay, Fayette and President streets, and back onto Centre Street.
