Awards

Andre J. Downey, president/chief executive of EEC Inc.; Stella M. Miller, president of Stella May Contracting Inc.; and Deborah L. Stroman, CEO of Soulful Golf Inc., have been named among Maryland's Top 100 Minority Businesses for 2006 by the Governor's Office of Minority Affairs and The Daily Record.

Baltimore Junior Association of Commerce named David W. Stambaugh III, general manager of the Baltimore Maritime Exchange Inc., as the 33rd recipient of its Port Leader of the Year award.

Larry Fiorino, president of Baltimore information technology firm G.1440, won the H. Mebane Turner Service Award presented by the University of Baltimore Alumni Association.

Baltimore Dredges LLC announced that its Ellicott Dredges division has received the 2006 Export Achievement Award from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

New contracts

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory received a five-year pact of up to $750 million to provide research, development and engineering support for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

Signami DCS, a division of Annapolis-based CompuDyne Corp., was awarded a $1.4 million contract to provide intelligence intercept products to an undisclosed international client.
