A TASTE OF ASIAN ART

Saturday, Towson University's Asian Arts & Culture Center will present the Many Moons Festival 2006 at the newly renovated Center for the Arts. The festival showcases a variety of traditional and modern Asian artists on three stages. The entertainment includes: Nendaiko (Japanese festival drumming), Somapa Thai Dance (classical Thai dancers) and the Nguyen Family Bamboo Ensemble (Vietnamese musicians). There will also be yoga, martial arts and Chinese doll-making demonstrations, as well as hands-on arts and crafts. The Crossroad Market, on the second-floor atrium, will feature cuisine from many countries.

All events take place Saturday at Towson University's Center for the Arts. The university is at 8000 York Road in Towson. Hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and children and free for Towson students. Information: 410-704-2787 or centerforthearts.tow son.edu.

SEDARIS AT MEYERHOFF

Grammy-nominated humorist and best-selling author David Sedaris will be at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall Wednesday for a reading and book-signing. This critically acclaimed author and playwright is best known for his books, including Me Talk Pretty One Day, Barrel Fever and Holidays on Ice. Sedaris' Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim was nominated for the Best Spoken Word album Grammy Award. The event is sponsored by WYPR 88.1.

BIG RED DOG DAYS

Norman Bridwell introduced his big red canine friend, Clifford, to children more than 40 years ago, and today he still teaches and challenges children with his big ideas and life lessons. Port Discovery brings Clifford to life in the new bilingual exhibit, Adventures With Clifford the Big Red Dog, featuring a 9-foot replica of the beloved pooch. Experience a variety of hands-on adventures, including sliding down Clifford's tail just like Emily Elizabeth does on the PBS kids' show. Children can also enjoy T-bone Beach, Emily's backyard theatre, and Cleo's backyard.

The exhibit opens Saturday and runs through May 13. Port Discovery is at 35 Market Place. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10.75 for ages 2 and up, children younger than 2 are free.
