The lowdown -- Benefit community foundations at the Catonsville Fall into Fitness 5K at 8 a.m. Saturday. The Catonsville Rotary and St. Agnes have combined their two respective races (Y5K Race and Fun Walk and St. Agnes Labor Day 5K Run/Walk) into one community event.

If you go -- The run begins and ends at 1600 Frederick Road. Pre-registration is $25 for adults and $12 for children 12 and younger. Registration on the day of the event is $30 for adults and $15 for children 12 and younger. The run benefits the St. Agnes Foundation, St. Agnes Lung Cancer Center and the Strong Kids! Home and garden show

The lowdown -- Shop for crafts and home needs, and consult with a specialist from Adirondack Deck and Remodeling for interior and exterior design/build services at the Harford Live! Home & Garden Show from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Ripken Stadium. More than 400 vendors will be present, along with televised sporting events, powerboats and a large kid-friendly area.

If you go -- Ripken Stadium is at 873 Long Drive in Aberdeen. Tickets at the door are $5 for adults and free for children 12 and younger. Call 443-512-0265 or go to harfordlive.com.

Steeplechase races

The lowdown -- Saturday, experience steeplechase races while surrounded by scenic countryside at the Shawan Downs' signature event, the Legacy Chase. The steeplechase races award nearly $100,000 in purse money while benefiting Greater Baltimore Medical Center Healthcare.

If you go -- Gates open at 10 a.m., and opening ceremonies start at noon. The first race begins at 1 p.m. and gates close at 6 p.m. Ticket prices vary. Shawan Downs is one mile west of Interstate 83 on Shawan Road, Exit 20B. Tickets are available by phone at 410-988-2261. Information: shawandowns.org.

Taste of Baltimore

The lowdown -- More than 60 restaurants will offer food samples at the Taste of Baltimore on Saturday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Rockers Great Train Robbery will play two sets and Ravens Justin Green and Jason Brown will sign autographs in the afternoon. There will also be karate demonstrations, children's entertainment and a climbing wall.

If you go -- The event runs 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at Oriole Park, 333 W. Camden St. Admission is $8, and food tickets are available inside. Information: tasteofbaltimore. com.
