Pa. man charged in assault

Maryland State Police in Bel Air charged a 25-year-old Pennsylvania man with attempted second-degree murder and assault after shots were fired at his former girlfriend and two other people.

Police say Matthew Joseph Miller confronted his ex-girlfriend, her boyfriend and another person about 1:40 a.m. yesterday at a home on Melrose Lane in the Forest Hill area of Harford County. Miller is accused of firing a semiautomatic handgun at the three, none of whom was injured, police said. Police that Miller sustained head injuries during the incident.

Police were given a description of Miller's vehicle and he was apprehended on Route 24 near Bynum Road. Police said two handguns were recovered from the vehicle.
