Jones, Gladys Elizabeth

GLADYS ELIZABETH JONES, daughter of the late John Wilson and Mary Redd, was born in Petersburg, Virginia on November 12, 1922. She moved to Baltimore as a teenager and graduated from Dunbar High School and the Cortez Peters Business School. At the time of her retirement, she was employed at the Montebello State Hospital as a nursing assistant. Gladys was united in holy matrimony to the late William Allen Jones. From this union, four children were born. Gladys accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was baptized into the Pentecostal faith. She was a very quiet person and softly offered encourgement to all those she came in contact with . She was a mother, grandmother, friend and confidant. On September 15, 2006, in the wee hours of the morning, God sent his angels to claim one of their own. Gladys leaves to cherish her memory: three sons, Linwood, Ervin and Clenton; one daughter, Marvina; three daughters-in-law, Heather, Eloise and Joyce; one brother, John Johnson, two sisters-in-law, Ruth Tanner and Linda Johnson; one brother-in-law, Theodore Jones; a devoted friend, Mark Mosely, whom she thought of as a son; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
