Ennis, Haynos latest to flourish with Terps

COLLEGE PARK -- Maryland kicker Dan Ennis needed to buy some oil paints for an upper-level art class he is taking this semester.

Ennis paid for his supplies, got the receipt, and brought it back to the athletic department to get reimbursed for about $200.

Walking to Terps glory

Maryland players who walked on and made significant contributions under coach Ralph Friedgen:

Dan Ennis, PK -- In second season as team's starter; tied for second in the ACC among kickers in scoring with seven points per game. Moses Fokou, LB -- Played in all three games, tied for the ACC lead in forced fumbles (two). Joey Haynos, TE -- Leads the Terps in receiving yards, including a 42-yard catch in the season opener against William and Mary.

David Holloway, LB -- Three-year starter who led the Terps with nine tackles and forced a fumble against West Virginia.

Scott McBrien, QB -- Former scout team player who led the Terps to the Peach and Gator bowls, and was MVP at both.

Ryan McDonald, C -- Last year's starting center who came back to the team to raise his grade point average.

Nick Novak, PK -- ACC's all-time leading scorer.

Madieu Williams, S -- All-ACC selection in 2003 and current Cincinnati Bengal.
