UM special teams draw scrutiny

Kickoff job unsettled for Terps

changes are made on coverage unit

COLLEGE PARK -- First, there was a fumble on Maryland's first kickoff return. Then there was West Virginia's 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Add to that one more Maryland fumble on another kickoff return, and it was enough to leave Maryland special teams coordinator Ray Rychleski "sick about it for two days."

The mistakes cost the Terps 14 points in Thursday night's 45-24 loss to West Virginia, but Rychleski said that performance was an anomaly for an otherwise reliable unit.
