3 inmates indicted in officers' stabbing

Three inmates at the Maryland House of Correction have been indicted in the March 29 stabbing of two corrections officers, according to the Anne Arundel County state's attorney's office.

Brian Troxler, 24, Donta Walker, 23, and Cedric Chamber, 37, were charged with first- and second-degree attempted murder and 10 other counts after a county grand jury handed up the indictments Friday.

All three are serving lengthy sentences on murder convictions.

Correctional Officer Dontae Malone, 24, was securing cells at the Jessup facility, according to the state's attorney's office, when he was attacked by three inmates, including two with homemade knives. Sgt. Damean Stewart, 29, was stabbed when he came to help.

Man sought in abduction try

The Harford County Sheriff's Office is searching for an elderly man in connection with the attempted abduction of a 16-year-old girl last month.

After a man estimated to be about 70 purchased a snowball from a teen working at a Churchville stand, he grabbed her wrist and tried to pull her into his car, police said. When the girl eluded his grasp, the man drove off in a Honda Odyssey minivan.

The Aug. 27 incident has been under investigation for three weeks, said sheriff's spokesman Robert B. Thomas Jr. Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect should contact the Harford County Child Advocacy Center at 410-638-3294.
