William R. Sheldon Jr., 73, refrigeration technician

William R. Sheldon Jr., a retired air-conditioning and refrigeration technician, died of cancer Sept. 8 at his Southwest Baltimore home. He was 73.

The Baltimore native was a graduate of Southern High School. He had worked repairing air-conditioning and refrigeration systems for the old Pantry Pride grocery store chain and Sears, Roebuck & Co. before retiring in the early 1990s.

The longtime Rayshire Road resident enjoyed working on the computer and reading.

Services are private.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, the former Paulette Gravette; two sons, William R. Sheldon III of Glen Burnie and William Todd Sheldon of Baltimore; three daughters, Christine Marie Sheldon of Catonsville, Cheryl Lynn Wolfe of Westminster and Melissa Kristene Jones of Linthicum; a sister, Shirley Focht of Pasadena; four half-brothers, George Sheldon of Gulf Breeze, Fla., and Ronald Sheldon, Stanley Sheldon and Richard Parker, all of Baltimore; four half-sisters, Mildred Breidenbach, Patricia Sheldon and Kathy Wahlhaupter, all of Baltimore, and Wanda Bessling of Glen Burnie; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
