Irish comedy -- Rep Stage, the professional theater in residence at Howard Community College, will open its season with Marie Jones' Irish comedy Stones in His Pockets on Sept. 22 at the college's Smith Theatre, 10901 Little Patuxent Parkway, Columbia. Bruce Nelson and Michael Stebbins (above), Rep Stage's producer and artistic director, play 15 characters in the two-man satire of Hollywood's romantic version of rural Ireland. The play runs through Oct. 8. Performances are at 8 p.m. Fridays; 2:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturdays; and 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sundays, with a 7:30 p.m. show Oct. 5. Tickets are $12-$24. Students pay $12. A free reception is planned after the Sept. 22 performance, and a post-show discussion will be held after the Sept. 29 performance. A free reading of the play Sacco and Vanzetti: A Vaudeville, by Louis Lippa, which features both actors, is planned for 7 p.m. Oct. 16 in the college's new Peter and Elizabeth Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center. 410-772-4900.
