Wine Festival

The lowdown -- Sample about 20 wines from 17 local wineries and see plenty of live bands at the Maryland Wine Festival this weekend. The list of bands includes Blues Works, the Junkyard Saints, the Bourbon Street Ramblers, and Mike Dugan and Blues Mission. Craft and food vendors will be on site.

If you go -- The festival is at the Carroll County Farm Museum, 500 S. Center St. in Westminster. It runs 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday. Gates open an hour before the festival begins. Tickets are $20, $5 for ages 7-20 and free for children 6 and younger. Call 410-386-3880.


The lowdown -- Saturday and Sunday, you can tour nine lighthouses around the Chesapeake Bay with this year's Maryland Lighthouse Challenge. At each lighthouse, you receive a postcard, and if you visit them all this weekend, you get a commemorative postcard at the end. Lighthouse artist Donna Elias will display new work and autograph her old work 9 a.m.-5 p.m. both days at the Seven Foot Knoll Lighthouse in the Inner Harbor.

Garden fest

The lowdown -- Art in nearly every medium will be on display at Annmarie Garden's Artsfest this weekend. More than 150 artists from around the country will be represented, and the festival includes dance and music.

If you go -- Artsfest is 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Annmarie Garden, 13480 Dowell Road in Dowell, near Solomons. Tickets are $5 for adults, free for children 6 and younger. Call 410-326-4640.
