Police race -- Howard County Police Foundation will hold its 15th Police Pace on Sunday to benefit the children of officers killed or injured in the line of duty. A portion of the proceeds will go to auxiliary Officer Pieter Lucas, a police volunteer who lost a leg after being struck by a car while directing traffic. Registration is open for the 5K race and one-mile walk/run at Centennial Park in Ellicott City. The race, which is to begin at 9 a.m., will conclude with an awards ceremony for more than 50 runners. Food will be provided. Clowns, McGruff the Crime Dog, free face-painting, balloons and displays of equipment, a helicopter, patrol cars, motorcycles, and the K-9 and SWAT teams are planned. Registration is $20, and includes a T-shirt and lunch; family registration is $35. www.policepace.com.
