Sister Mary Camille, 81, teacher

Sister Mary Camille Neary, a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, died of pneumonia Monday at her order's motherhouse in the Woodbrook section of Baltimore County. She was 81.

Born Elizabeth Katherine Neary in Baltimore and raised on Cecil Avenue, she attended St. Ann's Parochial School. She attended the Institute of Notre Dame for a year before joining the Roman Catholic religious order in 1944, when she took the name Mary Camille.

She earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland and later studied at Boston College.

Until her retirement about six years ago, Sister Camille taught at St. Mark's in Catonsville, St. Mary of the Assumption in Govans, St. Ambrose on Park Heights Avenue and St. John's in Frederick.

A Mass was offered Thursday in Woodbrook.

Survivors include a brother, Lawrence Neary of Wilmington, Del.
