Workshop focuses on special needs

The Carroll County Office of Public Safety Support Services and Carroll County Health Department will hold a workshop for residents with special needs and their caregivers on how to prepare for emergencies from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Westminster Senior Center, 125 Stoner Ave.

Kristin Cox, secretary of the Maryland Department of Disabilities, will open the workshop.

The event is geared toward individuals who face challenges, such as evacuating a wheelchair user or obtaining prescription medicine during a blizzard.

Personal support networks and tools for planning will be discussed. Registration is required.

Tourism entries sought for calendar

The Carroll County Tourism Office is preparing the Tourism Calendar of Events for 2007 that will cover events from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31.

Organizations are invited to submit information about their 2007 activities.

To be included, events must take place in Carroll County, be a tourism-related event and draw at least 300 people.

Application forms with instructions are available at the tourism office. Deadline for applications is Friday.

Applications should be sent to Calendar of Events, Carroll County Office of Tourism, 224 N. Center St., Westminster 21157.
