Acquisitions

United BioSource Corp. announced that the Bethesda-based firm has acquired Bioniche Global Learning, of McLean, Va., which conducts training programs for health research.

Expansions

Paul Reed Smith Guitars Ltd. has begun a multimillion-dollar expansion of its Stevensville instrument production plant. The 18-month project will add more than 98,000 square feet to the firm's manufacturing and office space.

Manufacturing

Universal Security Instruments Inc. announced it will have a 4-for-3 stock split in the form of a 33.3 percent stock dividend to holders of record on Sept. 25, payable Oct. 16. Cash will be paid in lieu of fractional shares.

Mergers

Blumenthal-Kahn Electric of Owings Mills merged with Truland Systems Corp. of Reston, Va. The new entity, with headquarters in Owings Mills, will be known as Blumenthal Kahn Truland Electric LLC.

New contract

InterGem has signed Adstrategies Inc. of Rockville to provide advertising, marketing and creative production services for its 80 international gem and jewelry shows.
