Two hospitalized with CO poisoning

An Arnold man and woman were hospitalized yesterday with carbon monoxide poisoning after running a generator in a house in the 2200 block of Mulberry Hill Road, Anne Arundel County fire officials reported. Lt. Alex Makris, a Fire Department spokesman, said there was a high concentration of carbon monoxide in the house. He withheld the identities of the pair, but said the man is 55 years old and the woman is 90 years old. Makris said they were taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center. He was unable to provide information about their conditions. The two were found by neighbors.

Baltimore County: Sparrows Point

3-alarm fire burns at steel company

Baltimore County firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze at Mittal Steel Co.'s Sparrows Point plant yesterday afternoon. The fire erupted near a conveyor belt in an ore-handling facility. No injuries were reported. Between 50 and 75 firefighters were at the scene from about 2:40 p.m. to 4 p.m., county fire officials said. The cause of the fire wasn't immediately determined.
